Q & A Stories: What can we all do to regenerate Earth's natural cycles? (with Audio)

Welcome back to our Audio Q & A Series!

This is where the loyal monthly supporters of our regenerative farm and learning center can ask us whatever they want to know about what it’s really like to live off-grid in a South American rain forest. So if you would like to contribute directly to the reforestation of a rare and endangered ecosystem, provide fair-trade opportunities for our neighbors, and cultivate an abundant oasis while we’re at it, please consider joining our community on Patreon. At tiers starting at jut $6 per month, you will help us continue to make the world a better, greener place.

This month´s question comes from our apprentice Lizandra Vidal. Lizandra is staying with us at the farm for a few months and we’ve had many rich and exploratory conversations. Like many people, Lizandra feels overwhelmed by the “gloom and doom” tone of the mainstream media’s treatment of climate change and disconnected from the so-called “nature based solutions” proferred by the elite tech industry and reigning corporatocracy.

Like many others who want to take action, Lizandra wants to know:

What can I do that will actually make an impact?

In this lively 30 minute dialogue, we discuss the insidious ways polluting industries have used targeted advertising campaigns to shift the burden of resposibility for carbon emissions from themselves to individuals. On the brighter side, we explore an exciting new paradigm for viewing the climate situation in a fresh and empowering way. I explain how what is happenning right here on the ground with elements we can all see—like water, soil, and plants—matters just as much, if not more, as what is happenning in the atmosphere above.

We finish the discussion on a much more hopeful note: regular folks, small communities, and grass roots organiziations still have agency in the task at hand to restore our planet’s natural cycles. There is no need to despair as long as there is still time to learn and take action.

At Sueño de Vida we work in a meaningful way to heal land ravaged by deforestation. How meaningful? According to a recent UN Foresight Brief on climate change,

--It is of the utmost importance to stop deforestation and to increase reforestation efforts around the world. Agricultural practices should focus on soil building and the use of agroforestry methods.

That is exactly what we do here at SdV. You can help by helping is do what we do every day: plant healthy forests that nurture soil, people, and local community.
