Cloud Forest Trail Mix
Most commercial "trail mixes" sold as health food don’t actually contribute much to your health. Whatever dried fruits they contain are usually treated with sulfates and smothered with sugar while the nuts and seeds are coated in preservatives. The less-preserved versions are usually astronomically expensive.
The solution: make your own power-packed version in minutes at a fraction of the price using fresh ingredients.
Organic, eco-farmed cacao seeds are the core ingredient in our Cloud Forest Harvest mix, boosting up the nutrition with protein, fiber, Omegas, iron, zinc, and magnesium. The earthy dark chocolate intensity of the cacao is well balanced by zesty ginger, creamy coconut, buttery nuts, natural brown sugar and a pinch of salt.
It’s perfect for snacking as is and also goes great with oatmeal, yogurt, or your favorite cereal.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups coarse crushed cacao
¾ cup toasted coconut
¾ cup nuts of your choice (peanut, almond, macadamia, walnut, etc.)
⅓ cup small chunks crystallized ginger
1 tsp crushed cardamom seeds
Generous dash of sea salt
2 Tbsp raw or brown sugar
1 Tbsp sunflower or coconut oil
Directions
Mix all ingredients in a baking dish and toast in a 375 degree oven for ten minutes.
